A western Sydney abattoir has been served with a notice to appear in court on cruelty charges including the illegal use of an electrical device on an animal.
The RSPCA said it served the notice on the abattoir on Wednesday.
It said the company that operates the abattoir faces 10 cruelty charges, including using a non-prescribed electrical device and failing to exercise reasonable supervision of animals to prevent the commission of an act of cruelty.
A former employee at the abattoir also faces a single charge of allegedly committing an act of cruelty on an animal.
The matter is listed for mention at Windsor Local Court on February 27.
