A man accused of beating to death two alpacas at a school farm north of Brisbane has had his matter mentioned in court.

Wayne Charles Hartwig, 19, was charged with two counts of injuring animals and one of trespassing over the incident at Caboolture State High School on October 13.

Hartwig and a 16-year-old accomplice allegedly lured the animals from their enclosure and beat them savagely with iron bars.

The male alpacas, Harley and Harrison, died following the attack, which was caught on CCTV.

Hartwig's matter was mentioned on Tuesday in the Caboolture Magistrates Court.

He did not appear, and his bail was continued until his next court date on February 18.

His co-accused faces similar charges and will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
