PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) — The opening ceremony for the Special Olympics will take place east of the capital in the South Korean mountains that will be the site of the Winter Olympics in five years.

Myanmar's democracy icon, Aung San Suu Kyi, is among those attending the ceremony in Pyeongchang on Tuesday.

South Korea has transformed the once-sleepy mountain hamlet into a snow sports mecca.
