Former policewoman Jenna-Lee Hughes has been jailed for supplying confidential information to the bodyguard of Kings Cross nightclub owner John Ibrahim regarding one of his rivals.
Judge Mark Marien told the District Court in Darlinghurst on Thursday that Hughes had lied to the Police Integrity Commission about her actions more than once, then lied before the court after pleading guilty to the offences.
The 25-year-old wept uncontrollably in court and initially refused to go with custodial officers, who eventually led her from the dock down to the holding cells.
She was sentenced to a maximum of one year and nine months, with a minimum jail term of 12 months.
"She acted freely, with full knowledge that her criminal conduct was of the very highest order," Judge Marien said.
"The only appropriate sentence is full time custody."
