It will be legal to turn left on red lights at some intersections on Queensland's Gold Coast from today.
A three-month trial of the measure begins this morning at Benowa, Southport and Robina.
A sign will tell motorists when to turn left at three designated intersections in those suburbs.
Mayor Tom Tate says the impact on safety and traffic flow will be monitored and results will be presented to councillors in August.
The project is being managed by the council, Transport and Main Roads and the RACQ.
The aim is to reduce delays at intersections.
