An investigation by Police Ethical Standards Command is underway on Queensland's Gold Coast where a man wanted over a suspected murder in Sydney plunged to his death yesterday.
Queensland and New South Wales detectives went to the Marriott Hotel yesterday morning hoping to question Elliott Coulson over the death of his ex-partner Kate Malonyay.
Her body was found by police in a unit on Sydney's North Shore on Monday after friends reported her missing.
It is believed officers were trying to force their way into Coulson's hotel room when he tried to escape over the balcony and fell 26 floors to his death.
Ethical Standards investigators have interviewed witnesses, hotel staff and the detectives involved in the incident.
The Marriott Hotel says it is also cooperating with the investigation.
