A large saltwater crocodile, which has been cruising a popular beach near Port Douglas in far north Queensland, has been trapped by rangers.
The reptile, which is three to four metres long, was caught in a trap at Saltwater Creek at Newell Beach on Tuesday.
Environment Minister Andrew Powell says rangers will relocate the croc on Wednesday when the tide falls enough to let them get to the trap.
It will be given to a crocodile farm or a zoo.
But Mr Powell has warned people in the area not to become complacent.
"Unfortunately, the capture of one crocodile does not mean the region is crocodile-free," he said.
