The State Opposition has attacked the government for forking out tens of thousands of dollars on flowers and plants.
Answers to Opposition questions in State Parliament reveal government ministers, departments and agencies spent more than $60,000 buying and hiring plants and flowers over a three month period earlier this year.
Labor spokeswoman Rita Saffioti says it is an unnecessary extravagance in light of recent budget cuts.
"At the same time when you have some staff not being able to purchase pens, you have thousands of dollars being spent on flowers and pot plants," he said.
A spokesman for the Department of Premier and Cabinet says it is in the process of implementing further savings measures on discretionary spending across government.
