CHUNGJU, South Korea (AP) — Henrik Stephansen of Denmark defended his title in the men's lightweight single sculls on Friday at the rowing world championships.
Stephansen surged ahead of France's Jeremie Azou near the finish line to claim his third straight title in the event. Hungary's Peter Galambos took the bronze.
Simon Niepmann and Lucas Tramer of Switzerland won the men's lightweight pair event, beating the Italian duo of Elia Luini and Martino Goretti. Sam Scrimgeour and Mark Aldred of Great Britain finished third.
Luca Parlato, Vincenzo Abbagnale and coxswain Enrico D'Anieloas led from start to finish as Italy claimed the men's coxed pair, finishing ahead of Germany and France.
Michaela Taupe-Traer of Austria won the women's lightweight single for her first world championship title.
