A 42-year-old man has been attacked with a metal trowel and a kitchen knife during a dispute in Dawesville, south of Perth.

Police say a 33-year-old man man was creating a disturbance on Bryde Court last night when he was asked to leave the area.

The situation escalated and the younger man allegedly struck the 42-year-old on the head with a trowel.

Police say the offender then chased the victim inside a neighbouring home and assaulted him with a kitchen knife.

He has been charged with unlawful wounding and causing grievous bodily harm.

The injured man remains in hospital with multiple injuries.

Meanwhile police have arrested a man they allege attacked a security guard with a piece of wood in Warnbro, south of Perth last night.

The incident occurred at the Aqua Jetty aquatic centre.

Police used a dog to track the man before arresting him.

He has been charged with aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm and assaulting a public officer, after he allegedly spat at police.

The 61-year-old security guard was taken to hospital where he was treated for cuts and abrasions.
