Police have charged three New South Wales men and three Tasmanians after seizing guns and cash at Launceston airport.
They say two men from New South Wales tried to smuggle four handguns, a silencer and $170,000 cash onto a Sydney-bound flight by concealing them in a metal box.
Several subsequent property searches uncovered another three guns and a large amount of the drug 'ice'.
Detective Inspector Scott Flude says the seizures are unrelated to others in the state this week.
"This yesterday is another significant blow to organised crime and certainly we will deal with this every day of the week," he said.
"We have specific targetted operations for these type of things and the type of success we've been having in the past few months in relation drugs, firearms has been really good."
