Angelina Jolie is proving to be an unofficial ambassador for Sydney's family-friendly tourist attractions.

The Hollywood star is in town to film Unbroken, which is being shot on the Gold Coast and Sydney. Its production office is at Fox Studios.

Since jetting into Sydney on a Qantas commercial flight last week, Jolie has been seen with her six children - Maddox, Shiloh, Pax, Zahara, Vivienne and Knox - visiting Sydney Aquarium, Taronga Zoo and Luna Park.

The actress was snapped taking her brood of children to yet another Sydney attraction on Tuesday, this time knocking over some pins at Strike Bowling Centre, at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park.

Strike Bowling staff say the famous clan walked in without a booking in the "open, free-for-all day".

"We get lots of (celebrities) into our venues," a spokeswoman told AAP on Wednesday.

"We want to maintain privacy for them."

Jolie is just one of a number of celebrities who have come to Australia and very publicly taken in the sights.

Tourism Australia points to the visits of talk-show queens Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey in 2013 and 2010 respectively.

The tourism body is "delighted" to see Jolie enjoying Sydney's attractions and hopes she'll manage to explore more of the country, Tourism Australia's managing director, Andrew McEvoy, told AAP.

"Australia doesn't always get the attention it deserves globally, so these sort of high profile visits are really great for us, helping to generate a bit of buzz and attention on the world stage."

Mr McEvoy said the photographs of Jolie and her clan besides iconic Sydney attractions will garner lots of attention from overseas media.

"It's hard to quantify the exact value of what is effectively a working visit.

"But I think we can certainly say that, so far, the likes of Taronga Zoo, Luna Park and Sea Life Sydney Aquarium have all provided wonderfully photogenic backdrops for the paparazzi tracking Angelina's every move, and ensured that Australia and some of our most iconic and popular tourism attractions have received incredible global coverage, free of charge, right across the world."
