Jessica Rowe is returning to the Ten Network almost a decade after it tried to sue the TV presenter.

The channel announced on Friday that Rowe would be the fourth host of its new morning program, Studio 10, joining Australian of the Year Ita Buttrose and journalists Joe Hildebrand and Sarah Harris on the panel program.

Rowe's return to the network comes eight years after the network tried to sue her for defecting to rival Nine as co-host of its morning show, Today, in 2005.

The ill-fated appointment at Nine led to Rowe learning through court action in 2006 that then-Nine boss Eddie McGuire wanted to sack her.

The return to Ten will see Rowe move from her current position as a newsreader on the Seven Network's Weekend Sunrise program.

"Ten has always held a very special place in my heart, and it's exciting to be given this wonderful opportunity," Rowe said in a statement on Friday.

Studio 10 will air later this year as part of Ten's new morning line-up, which will also include the breakfast program Wake Up.
