Strong winds are being blamed for the crash landing of a plane at Ballina.
The four seater plane had flown from Lismore and was coming in to land at the Ballina Airport just before 10 am Wednesday morning.
The male pilot was the only person on board.
He told police the plane was hit by a strong gust of wind as it touched down which caused the plane to flip and land on its roof.
He was able to escape and was treated by paramedics for minor injuries before being taken to Ballina Hospital.
Police officers helped to flip the plane back onto its wheels and the runway was reopened.
The incident will be referred to air safety investigators.
