A man has died at a police station after being arrested for acting suspiciously on the NSW north coast.
Officers at Coffs Harbour arrested a man about 4.45am (AEST) on Friday, police say.
The unidentified man was taken to the local police station but a short time later police noticed he was unresponsive in the holding dock.
They started CPR before paramedics took him to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A critical incident team will now investigate all the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the actions of police.
It will be overseen by the professional standards command, police said in a statement.
All information will be provided to the coroner who will determine the cause of death and make any findings about the events leading up to it.
No further details were available but police urge anyone who saw the man in Prince Street to come forward.
