Police say 13 people were shot in a park on Chicago's south side Thursday night (Sept. 20) including a 3-year-old boy who was shot in the head.

Three-year-old Deonta Howard and two others were in critical condition.

Investigators believe the violence is gang-related violence.

Witnesses say gunmen opened fire on the crowded park.

The boy's aunt, Kailynn Jordan, told reporters the toddler was playing basketball in the park when the shooting happened

His grandmother, Tracy Gautreaux, urged the shooters to turn themselves in, telling a reporter "God sees all".

"I'm just asking that everybody praying that his violence just stops. It's too many kids getting hurt out here," said Gautreaux.

The shooting is the latest in a wave of violence in Chicago. The city has had more than 1,600 shooting incidents this year.
