There has been a serious chemical spill at an industrial site in Beresfield this morning.

The spill happened at the Toll Priority Freight Services distribution centre on Enterprise Drive just before 6.30am (AEST) when a forklift pierced a pallet containing hydrogen peroxide.

Fire and Rescue New South Wales says a quick response by crews prevented the incident from becoming very dangerous.

A spokesman says a 50-metre exclusion zone was put in place, and two firefighters with breathing apparatus rendered the area safe.

As a precaution, around 30 people were forced to leave the distribution centre.
