West Australian Premier Colin Barnett will don a Hawks jumper and hand out Victorian tourism brochures after losing a bet on the AFL grand final.

In the MCG stands on Saturday, Mr Barnett appeared stern-faced as the Fremantle Dockers lost to the Hawthorn Hawks.

Having lost a bet with Victorian Premier Denis Napthine, Mr Barnett will on Tuesday spruik Victoria in Perth's Hay Street Mall, clad in Hawthorn's brown and yellow colours.

Mr Barnett is a long-time West Coast Eagles supporter, but jumped on the Dockers' bandwagon in the lead-up to the grand final.

Victorians will no doubt view the embarrassment as just desserts for Mr Barnett, who had said a Hawks win was a "remote possibility", describing Melbourne as "soggy".

The premier is expected to walk through Hay Street Mall at about midday on Tuesday.
