George and Veronica Tahu have been growing olives on their Latrobe property for more than a dozen years.
George admits the couple knew very little about growing olives at the start and have learnt on the ground.
An oil from their Wattle Hill olive grove has won a gold medal at the National awards presented in Hobart recently.
The couple grow two thousand olive trees on the property and George Tahu says there will be no expansion of the property, as they've reached the amount they can handle.
The part time farmers both have other jobs, Veronica works in a call centre in Devonport while George has a part time position at the JBS abattoir.
