At the age of 72, Bill Medley is heading to Australia for his first ever headline tour to mark the 50th anniversary of The Righteous Brothers.

Medley formed the US singing duo with Bobby Hatfield in 1963.

Although they stopped recording in 1975, the Righteous Brothers continued as a performing act right up until Hatfield's death in 2003.

Medley sang the lower parts of the song, Hatfield had the higher register.

The Righteous Brothers were best known for the 1965 classic You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin, produced by Phil Spector. The backing singer on the song was Cher.

The Righteous Brothers' Bill Medley You've Lost That Lovin Feelin' 50th Anniversary Tour will kick off in Canberra on March 13, Australian tour promoter Lennard Promotions announced on Wednesday.

Medley will also play in Wollongong, Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart, Caloundra, Coolangatta and Perth.
