Scotland has handed the US Tomahawks their first defeat of the Rugby League World Cup after securing a 22-8 win at Salford on Friday.

The Tomahawks have been the surprise packets of the tournament so far, winning their opening two games and booking a quarter-final berth, but they weren't able to stretch their winning run against Scotland.

The loss will have little impact on the Tomahawks, who are still eyeing a quarter-final clash against tournament favourite Australia.

Scotland's win means their hopes of progressing beyond the pool rounds remains alive, but it has ended Tonga's chances of a quarter-final appearance.
