The American actress has landed the female lead in the forthcoming mini-series adapted from Michael Marshall Smith's 2007 novel, Deadline.com reports.
"Intruders" will depict a secret society in which individuals inhabit the bodies of others in an attempt to become immortal.
British actor John Simm ("Doctor Who") will play Jack, a former police officer who leaves behind his dark and violent past to enjoy a quiet life with his wife Amy, played by Mira Sorvino. When Amy disappears, her husband is forced to open an investigation that brings him back into contact with his past.
The drama will consist of eight episodes written by Glen Morgan ("X-Files"), to be aired on the cable network BBC America.
Mira Sorvino, actor Paul Sorvino's daughter, has appeared in several TV series over the course of her career. In 2008, she starred in the "House M.D." episode entitled "Frozen," aired after the Super Bowl to 29 million viewers. This summer, she will appear in the fourth season of "Falling Skies" on TNT.
