FIVE PEOPLE ARE DEAD AND ABOUT TWENTY OTHERS HAVE BEEN INJURED IN A TOUR BUS ACCIDENT ON ICY 1-84 IN NORTHEASTERN OREGON.
POLICE SAY THE VEHICLE WAS A CHARTER BUS THAT WENT OUT OF CONTROL.

"the bus went through a guard rail and then plunged 200 feet down a steep snowy embankment before coming to rest."
"They brought specially trained personnel for rope rescues to for rope rescues to get down to those injured or may not have been injured enough to go to to the hospital and they've been helping them get up....to the roadway."
THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED WEST OF AN AREA CALLED "DEADMAN PASS" WHERE STRETCHES OF THE HIGHWAY TEND TO BE ICY IN WINTER MONTHS.
